It may be a bit too hot for many, which is why it’s perfect timing to being planning for some cold weather sports. Or… not? When staying in a mountain resort snow sports are the obvious thing to do, but not the only thing there is. Skiing holidays in Canada are drawing tourists from all over the world, and each of them can count on a unique experience there with itineraries ready to burst. You can improve your golf in the summer or try something new like falconry. There’s simply too much to fit into a single holiday, but don’t worry—you can always come back again. There are some snow-sports you might not have heard of, like tubing or snow—shoeing, which are well worth squeezing in.
What You Might Expect… These are mountains resorts, so if you like hiking you might want to add the local mountains to your list of peaks. With a skiing resort, you’ll have access to spectacular views – which change along with the seasons. If you prefer to do things at a faster pace, you can follow mountain biking trails in the warmer months or explore the ranges by through the network of road circuits. You can also take a snowmobile tour, or why not take a tour by helicopter?
When the rivers melt you can explore them by canoe or you can hire out some waders, a rod, a net, and walk out into the shallows to pull out some salmon and trout, whether you’re a hardened fisher or an absolute beginner. In the summer, you can even take a zip tours, which take you down from the summits on cables which can extend up to several kilometers.
The Unexpected. If this all seems too ordinary, too everyday, for your holiday, then try something new. Have you tried a dip in a steaming, outdoor Scandinavian bath as the snow falls around you? Have you tried acrobranching? You can take a fast-paced winter tour on a dogsled, or you can sit back on a horse-drawn sleigh, hot chocolate in hand, and listen to the local legends.
When the skiing season is over, these resorts are far from at rest. In Canada’s world-renowned mountain lakes, you can swim in the water, but you can also windsurf or water-ski, or take out a pedal-boat or a luxury Pontoon boat with its own BBQ facilities. There are also canoe tours and white water rafting on the rivers.
In or out of the skiing season, ChateauBeauvallon.com provides access to all these activities as well as a remarkable dining experience, with its locally sourced Prime Steak Sushi Bar. Afterwards you can retire to Chateau Beauvallon’s Scotch bar, where if you have the stomach for it you can try over 80 different scotches. It might be worth brushing up before you head out with an A-Z of Scotch whisky.
Whatever you decide to do, there’ll be a blend of activities you’ve done before, and you know you’ll enjoy, and new ones you’ll never forget. Your holiday at Mont Tremblant will please yourself and your family.
